What was life like before you met Jesus?

I have known about Jesus my entire life. I grew up in the church, attending church, Sunday school, confirmation, vacation Bible school and youth group. There was no epiphany as to when I first met him, so it is difficult to say what my life was like before. However, as a youth, I recall turning to worldly things such as the opinions of my peers and fitting in, to the point of drinking alcohol when I was in high school. None of these solutions worked well for me. I was lacking a personal relationship with Jesus, instead putting my peers on the throne.

How did you meet Jesus?

After a life of partying through college, I felt a lot of shame, guilt and condemnation for my actions. But, John 3:17 says that "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him." If I wanted a better life, there was only one real way that was going to happen – with Jesus. I knew I could trust this precious man who died a brutal death on a cross for all my sins because he loves me. God led me to my spouse who was a believer at the end of my bachelor's degree. We began attending church regularly, reading the word and devotions and attending Bible studies and Sunday school.

After being saved by Jesus what is your life like now?

Jesus has always met my needs. He helped me deal with the alcoholism in which I grew up and rescued me from the chains of my own addiction. If it were not for Jesus, I would not be alive today. God gave my husband and me four beautiful children whom we raised to know and love Jesus. Life hasn't always been easy, but Jesus has been with me whether I was in the valley or on the mountain top. I know that I will never have to take a breath without him. I also know that when I leave this earth, I will be with him in Heaven for eternity. John 3:16 says, "For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." I most certainly do believe in Him.
