Volunteer Highlight | Worship

by Jul 7, 2020VeritasBlog

I have the privilege to celebrate members of our team who graciously give of their time and talents to encourage and lead us in worship! There are so many stories of God at work in and through the worship ministry at Veritas and while I am new to the family, it is evident that so many have stepped up to lead through this chaotic time. I couldn’t narrow my list down — it was simply too challenging. So — that being said, I want us to consider the group of people who made it possible for us to worship together as we worshipped together in our homes. This list isn’t exhaustive, and doesn’t mean that others wouldn’t have jumped in to help, because many would have, but it represents those who were invited and those who could participate as Veritas navigated uncharted territory. John Debold came in and spent hour after hour setting up and tearing down, routing audio, mixing, and doing whatever he could to make things work smoothly. Mark Hunter showed up every single week to run slides. Andy Petzold jumped in the mix and showed up with a smile and a joke to lighten the mood. Matt Thede, Michael Arentson, Sam Anderson, and Brian Banowetz all operated cameras so that people at home could see what was happening.

They all did whatever was asked of them to ensure that everyone had a good viewing experience and without their servant hearts, this season of livestreaming would not have been possible! This group of volunteers all operated behind the scenes, all with a joyful attitude and humble approach. To say we are fortunate to have them is a wild understatement. If you happen to run across any of these folks, please thank them for their obedience to Christ and their willingness to respond by sharing their gifts!

Baptism – What and Why

I remember my baptism well. It has been frozen in my mind… quite literally. The water tank heater broke and when a friend and I entered the baptismal with the pastor, the water was not any warmer than what would have been coming out a garden hose! It was...
