What was life like before you met Jesus?

I was raised in a Christian home where we went to church each Sunday. I was baptized as an infant and I have always held a strong belief that Christ was real. I was confirmed in the church at 14. As time went on I grew away from the Christian life and into the worldly life. In my mid-twenties I had found a new freedom. One where I could live life as I saw fit. The freedom to live by my own will. But my own will was devoured by a new idol that quickly became my god. An idol that I believed I could not live without. By the age of 35 I was filled with guilt, fear, self pity and resentment. I couldn’t imagine living a single day without the idol I had come to depend on. I realized I was never actually free. I was simply trapped in my sins. John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.

How did you meet Jesus?

I remember on at least one night in despair, saying a prayer for salvation and asking Christ to come into my life. Not long after, God had shown me the realization that I was going to have to start living differently. I knew I needed to change so I reached out to the ones who I depended on as a child, my Parents. It was my Dad who was able to redirect my path in the right direction. I learned then that I needed to turn my life over to the care of God and to begin a daily prayer life. I also had to relearn that there was only one way to God and that was through Jesus Christ. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way the truth and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me. Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him and will sup with him and he with me.

After being saved by Jesus what is your life like now?

Through Christ I have been able to change the direction of my life for over 11 years. Today I have a wife and a step-daughter. I have a renewed relationship with my family, a new home, a good employer and a new connection group here at Veritas. Together we have hope in Christ. Our desire is to live a Christ centered life in a community of believers who share their hope of salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. Our hope is in the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are new. John 8:38 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
