Generosity: A Healthy Tension

April 15, 2024 |

I’ve had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ for 38 years now, and in that time, I’ve seen financial feast and famine. In that time I have given well and given poorly, given generously and given begrudgingly, given wisely and yes, given stupidly. I’ve been haughty, and I’ve been humbled. I don’t know why we would expect our giving, which reflects our heart, would be any different than many other aspects of our spiritual lives.

The Importance of Journaling

January 22, 2024 | Richard Marsceau

The core of the Christian experience is centered on the Bible and who the Bible is written about: God. The scriptures are a record of the events, actions, thoughts, and instructions for our human existence; all 66 books, authored by human hands that moved at the will of our God. In this sense, the Bible is a journal, THE journal for us to read, reflect, and respond to.

Preparing for the Coming of Christ

November 27, 2023 | Jake Each

Advent simply means the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event. For us, it is the arrival of Christ, both at his birth and also the anticipation of his imminent return. In Advent, we are reminded of the faithfulness of Christ’s coming. We remember the eager waiting for His first arrival and how He was faithful to come as He promised to rescue us from our sins. And our excitement is stirred as we await His return to bring justice and make all things new. It is a special time of the year, but one we must be careful not to waste.

A Healthy View of Health

November 20, 2023 | Jake Each

There are many categories of life in which we are called to be healthy and many different ways we can be unhealthy. It is the tension between these categories that actually helps us make decisions. We want to be physically healthy. We also want to be financially healthy and have healthy relationships, a healthy marriage, and a healthy work-life balance. Health is multifaceted, and knowing that can help us have a healthier view of health. Think of it as stewardship and how the different areas in our lives that we are to steward can actually help give us a healthy balance.

God forgives us, and we are acting in a Godlike (divine) way when we forgive.

Reflections on Race and Christianity: Part four

February 24, 2020 | Jake Each

Reflections on Race and Christianity: Part One

February 3, 2020 | Jake Each

Race can certainly be a hot and controversial topic. To some it is a topic that can’t be escaped because of the color of their skin. To others it feels like walking through a minefield, not knowing where to step or what to say in the fear of miss stepping, so it becomes a topic we avoid. But there is definitely a conversation going on about race, and as Christians we are not to be quiet while that conversation is happening, rather we are to be biblical.
